Stunning new IVECO models to launch at ‘T.H.E EXPO’

Following its record New Zealand sales performance last year, IVECO is showcasing exciting new vehicles that will spearhead its 2017 market ambitions as part of an enormous display at this year’s ‘T.H.E EXPO’ event.

On show in its first public display is the latest E6 version of the award-winning Daily van and cab chassis range. As well as boasting a cleaner E6 engine, the new Daily also benefits from increased output – up approximately 10 per cent to 180hp – while fuel consumption is reduced by almost 1 per cent on its predecessor’s impressive figures.

Maintenance and repair costs have also been reduced in the new model to the order of about 3 percent, courtesy of lower viscosity lubricants, extended oil change intervals and tighter construction tolerances.

Other benefits include revised interiors, a 3dB noise reduction, revised grille treatment, enhanced on-board connectivity and additional wheelbase and volume options.

Complementing the E6 Daily on the indoor stand is an E5 Daily cab chassis with van body, belonging to leading textile rental company, Alsco.

The strong Daily presence continues with a modified 55S17 dual cab 4x4 featuring a 37” tyre package (Dealer fit option), custom tray and towbar, long range fuel tank and Narva lighting, all finished in a camouflage wrap. These modifications complement the Daily 4x4’s long standard equipment list including standard triple differential locks and double low range transfer case.

On the outdoor stand a Daily 50C17 demonstrates IVECO’s ‘work ready’ capabilities by showcasing its convenient factory-built, three-way tipping body and towbar package. A second standard 55S17 dual cab 4x4 will also be on show outside.
Also on public display for the first time ever in the southern hemisphere, is the 2016 International Truck of the Year winner, the E6 Eurocargo in ML160E28/P 4x2 guise.

The latest Eurocargo features a heavily redesigned cabin, new engine range and boasts a heavy focus on safety. The show vehicle features a roof kit, 4815mm wheelbase, ZF 6-speed manual transmission, adaptive cruise control, L.E.D daytime running lamps and lane departure warning system.

A second Eurocargo (E5 4x4) will be featured in the outdoor area, specified for use in an agricultural spreader application while a Eurocargo ML140 4x2 equipped with a Magirus HLF10 Tank Pumper Super Structure with TEAM CAB, will add further colour to the stand while demonstrating IVECO’s emergency service capabilities.

Magirus is a sister brand of IVECO and a dedicated manufacturer of firefighting appliances, most of which are fitted to IVECO cab chassis – this display unit is currently undergoing trials with the New Zealand Fire Service.

T.H.E EXPO also sees the introduction of the Trakker 6x4 to the New Zealand market.

Designed for tough vocational work, the Trakker 6x4 tipper features a 450hp Cursor engine coupled to ZF 16 speed manual transmission, and for extra traction there are differential locks on the rear drive wheels as standard. Those wanting a slightly more compact truck with drive to all four corners can inspect the Trakker 4x4 on display on the outdoor stand.

IVECO’s heavy duty ranges will be strongly represented with a selection of three Stralis models and a Powerstar 6400.

The Stralis range begins with the 360hp ATi, available as a rigid or prime mover, the model is manoevrable, comfortable and efficient, making it ideal for urban and intercity delivery – on show at T.H.E EXPO is the 6x2 prime mover variant.

Further up the range and on display is the Stralis AD 500 8x4 rigid. With its clear back of cab and powered by a 500hp Cursor engine mated to the Eurotronic II automated manual transmission, this model is ideal for livestock, curtain-sider, logging, tipper or as a prime mover.

At the top of the Stralis range is the AS-L prime mover, the transporter of choice for Triple 8 Engineering’s Red Bull Racing and Team Vortex, in the Supercar racing.

The AS-L is equipped with 560hp Cursor Series II engine boasting a market-leading 5 year / 1,000,000 kilometre warranty. The display vehicle is equipped with chrome trimmings and bar work, demonstrating just how good a European prime mover can look.

For operators preferring a conventional cab specification, a Powerstar 6400 rigid is available for viewing. This Powerstar is equipped with the same engine and transmission combination as the Stralis AS-L and also enjoys the same generous engine warranty.

With its superior comfort, spacious cabin and low tare weight, the Powerstar 6400 is increasingly finding favour across a wide range of applications from tipper work to single trailer general freight duties.

IVECO New Zealand Product, Marketing and Network Development Manager, Kristi Walker, says T.H.E EXPO provides an outstanding opportunity for the brand to showcase its breadth of models to a buying public that was  increasingly turning to IVECO to assist with its transportation solutions.

“IVECO has one of the widest model ranges available anywhere, spanning from car licence vans and trucks right through to B-Train capable prime movers,” Mrs Walker said.
