IVECO adds rugged 6x4 to Trakker range

IVECO’s ability to better serve customers engaged in demanding applications has been boosted following the addition of a new 6x4 model to the Trakker range.

The AD450 6x4 joins existing Trakker 6x6 and 4x4 variants, sharing most of these models’ tough underpinnings to deliver a vehicle that’s ideal for a variety of work such as quarry, tipper, agricultural and forestry applications.

The new model is suited to operators who perhaps do not require drive to all six axles but still need more traction, low off-road gearing and strong articulation than road-biased trucks provide.

Powering the vehicle is IVECO’s proven Cursor 13 SCR engine producing 450 hp (336 kW) and 2200 Nm of torque at a low 1,000 rpm. The Cursor 13 is well regarded for its reliability, smooth power delivery, low noise operation and fuel efficiency.

Coupled to the power plant as standard is a 16-speed ZF ECOSHIFT manual transmission. IVECO’s 16-speed Eurotonic II Automated Manual Transmission is also available as an option for those preferring a self-shifter with the versatility of manual shift control if required.

Rear axles on the model feature hub reduction and driver controlled differential locks for added comfort, while a cantilever suspension system with reinforced anti-roll bar combines simplicity of design with  outstanding articulation to ensure wheels remain in contact with the ground.

Front suspension is handled by parabolic leaf springs with anti-roll bar while braking comes courtesy of a front disc / rear drum combination with the added safety of ABS, EBL (Electronic Brake force Limitation) and ASR (Anti-Skid Regulator).

For durability off-road, the AD450 features a C-section chassis with riveted and bolted cross members, while a clear top of chassis facilitates faster and more simple body fitment saving the operator time and money.

Standout features of all Trakker models are their comfortable operating environment and ease of use – the AD450 is no different.

As a starting point, the cabin is married to the chassis via a four-point cab mounting system featuring helical sprung suspension, helping smooth out bumpy terrain.

On the inside the driver is treated to a heated, air-suspended, three-way adjustable seat with pneumatic adjustable lumbar support, while the ergonomically-designed, soft feel dashboard incorporates a multi-function steering wheel with fully adjustable column.

All controls are intuitively placed within arm’s reach and to help create a comfortable work environment particularly for drivers who spend long periods negotiating difficult terrain, and the AD450’s cabin is extensively soundproofed as well.

The cabin also benefits from a wide range of storage options to ensure all loose items have a secure location when travelling over demanding terrain.

The truck is further specified to suit operator requirements with standard equipment including IVECO colour display instrument cluster, which provides additional information on the truck’s operating status, the Iveconnect 7” touchscreen multimedia system combining navigation, Bluetooth, CD/MP3 capabilities and many more.

IVECO New Zealand Product, Marketing and Network Development Manager, Kristi Walker, says the AD450 Trakker 6x4 was receiving strong praise from customers who had already taken delivery of early units.
“Some vehicles have already been delivered to customers and their response has been very positive,” Mrs Walker said.

“The Trakker AD450 6x4 meets a market for an uncomplicated cab chassis that is suited to multiple tasks, where the predominate requirements are ease of operation, strength of chassis and running gear, long term low cost of ownership and affordable pricing.

“Its addition to the Trakker model line-up and indeed more broadly to the IVECO product range, further helps IVECO meet customer needs across a wide range of applications in New Zealand.”
