Few transport operators work their trucks as hard as Christchurch-based Alexandra James Ltd, contractor to TIL Freight – its newest Iveco Stralis AS560 has been clocking up 1000km a day since it started work hauling hanging meat in temperature-controlled B-trains to Timaru every afternoon and Picton every night, seven days a week. An older Stralis running to the West Coast covers a few kilometres less each day and between them the two trucks keep six drivers busy.
The company has tried other truck brands but Operations Manager Greg Wilson says: “We’re impressed with the Ivecos and the drivers are impressed with them. And the clincher was the service offered by New Zealand Trucks. The Stralis gets serviced every 30 days and their service is second to none.”
